Meet the builder behind BraceMate
Paul Webster-Young
Builder • Qualified Carpenter • Creator of Bracemate
I am a qualified builder with over 25 years in the building industry. I have a passion for smarter, safer, and more sustainable construction. I’m also the founder of BraceMate — a tool developed from firsthand experience on-site, designed to make framing easier and more efficient.
The idea for BraceMate came while working on a build in Mangere Bridge. Just before the Christmas break, we stood pre-nailed frames and braced them with timber before heading off for the holidays. It was a scorching summer and when we returned, the frames had shifted noticeably during the removal of the braces. That moment made me think — there had to be a better way to brace frames safely and reliably.
What followed was six years of development, testing, and refinement. The result is BraceMate: a practical, purpose-built solution created by a builder, for builders. My goal is simple — to take the hassle out of the framing stage, improve on-site safety, cut down on waste, and support better building practices across the industry.
